Well last night I went on the Cricut website. I happened to stumble upon a challenge page. They challenged people to make 15-30-50 blank cards which would be sent to military members, so they could write home to their loved ones. They wanted Halloween, Fall, B-day, thinking of you cards, etc. It could be anything you wanted to make, but you ship it to wherever they designate. I thought this was pretty cool, so I signed up to make 15 cards. That was realistic for me since I am starting back to school. So last night I started working on them, and I was able to crank out 6 cards before I got tired and fell asleep. I surprised myself. I might end up making more afterall. So here are the cards I made last night. Let me know if you like them or if you would like more information to participate in this challenge. I think it ends in 4 weeks.
I just finished cleaning up all the dead ants that invaded my house yesterday. There were all these litlle ant-i-bodies all over the place---I know that was cheesey, but I had to get it in there.

Hi....hope you are having a great time crafting away. I just changed part of the store front. I organized the scrapbook section for easier viewing. All the pages have been categorized by theme and a lot of new inventory has been uploaded. I don't have all the links done yet, so I put up a coming soon section and will keep working on getting the rest of the links up and running soon.
I want to show you one of my favorite pages that I made when I cleared out my scrap drawer. It's a baby page that kinda came together out of nothing. Let me know how you like it. Sorry about the technical difficulties. I've sent in a request to Weebly to have the blog looked at. If you're reading this you found the temporary fix. Congratulations.
I went back to school on Thursday. There's always a great energy buzzing around a school when the 1st day of school arrives. I don't know what will happen this year, but we are going to keep moving forward. My plan is to work on the website/craft stuff after work until I have to stop to fix dinner for my hubby. I'm in the process of uploading more scrapbook pages into the store and organizing them by theme. It's all done behind the scenes, but I'll let you know when it's done. I'm also going to upload some of those cards I made on the plane. If you haven't already checked out my scrapbooks...head on over there now. For now here is a sneak peak of what is to come. I just finished linking my scrapbooks on the website. That went a lot faster than I thought it would. So if you want to get to know me better and have some extra time, I'd love to share more about myself with you through my scrapbooks. You can get to it by clicking the link below or by searching for it in the links on the left.
Have fun and let me know what you think. I know I've enjoyed seeing how my style has changed over the years. My Scrapbooks Tommorrow I go back to my real job. I'll still be working on the website, and trying to make improvements on it. So I'll let you know what I've been working on.
You already know that I'm trying to enlarge the pictures through out the website. I'm starting with all of the stuff in the store. I've put aterik marks next to all the links that have the capability to enlarge the pictures to help you see all the detail better. As soon as I enlarge the photos, I will be uploading more of my inventory. I can't believe that since the Middle of July I've already made over 171 greeting cards, 5 box sets of cards (w/ 8 cards each), 23 gift bags, 30 8x8 pre-made scrapbook pages, 43 12x12 scrapbook pages, and 10 picture frames, in addition to the special orders, the business cards, the website, the labels, the sample boxes, and doing the daily chores around the house. But the more incredible thing is that everything fits on top of my computer desk in 2 shoes boxes, a couple of baskets, and 1 large box. Just thinking about it makes me feel like Superwoman. I guess my ADHD is good for something afterall!!! j/k. :) Last night I started looking through the website, and I realized that I don't have any of my scrapbook pages on here. So I am also in the process of creating links to some of my scrapbook pages. My style has changed quite a bit over the years. Actually it changes quite a bit from one page to the next. I've created the links and I started taking pictures of the pages this morning. But I had to put the project on hold because my batteries died. So keep checking back, it seems like there is always something changing on this website. It's off to the grocery store for now. I'd much rather do this, but responsibilities and the necessity for food is beckoning for my attention again. Until next time...have a great day and do something nice for yourself today!!! Hi there,
I almost killed myself a few minutes ago. I stepped on the wheel of my rolling chair and slipped and ended up doing the splits in the middle of my craft room. Fortunately for me I'm Ok. I know that doesn't surprise half of you, after all my nickname in high school was clutz/clumsy. Anyways I was quite productive today. I just figured out how to enlarge the pictures on my website using Photobucket. I experimented around with it and I think it will work. It will take some time to get all of the images uploaded on to Photobucket and then linked over to this website. Hopefully, by the end of September or sooner I will have this fully functional. The only problem is that the enlarged items will be side ways...for some reason Photobucket is not saving the pictures if I rotate them. I also finished up the cards I started making while I was a mile up on an airplane. How cool is that? I'm still amazed they turned out this good. I still can't believe I made almost 75 cards while I was on the plane or in between flights. I finished up most of my grandma's order of 50 cards before I even got off the plane!!! I love my CDS!!! It is such a time saver. I enlarged most of the sayings on Wild Card and about 6-8 sayings on one sheet of paper using the CDS. Then I'd open another new page under that one and add more phrases. Do it again. Then with only 3 sheets of paper I start cutting out all the phrases I need for all these cards. It saved so much time not switching cartridges and none of the paper goes to waste. Here's what you came for. The flowers are stickers and the ladybugs and the bees were felt stickers. Enjoy and let me know if you like them. Hi there. I just figured out some cool stuff. I went on paypal and figured out how to send out invoices for special orders. So if you need something made, I'll be able to give you a real professional looking statement....say it with me now...ooooooooo, aaaaaaaahhhhhh, oooooooohhhhhhh. Isn't that cool? I thought it was. Sometime this week I'll go talk to a tax guy and look into whether or not I need to charge sales tax...I know it's not a fun subject to talk about, but Uncle Sam always wants his fair cut of the pie.
On a brighter note, this morning I finished up two more orders. I still can't believe people are actually buying my products and telling me how much they like this website. I'm humbled and grateful for the response. I should have done this years ago. While I was gone I had my assistant (my Cousin Michelle) make up some of the things I would need to make up the order, so everything went together pretty fast, especially since I used the cards I made on the plane. See I can be efficient when I want to. There were a couple of Birthday diecuts that Michelle made a little bit too big. But being the cheapskate that I am, I found another creative use for them. I glued them on to some bags I had along with some other left overs, and now we have some stylish gift bags available for you to purchase. I thought they looked cool. Let me know what you think. How much would you pay for one? I was thinking between $3-5. Thanks for the feedback. Chicago was awesome!!! I loved the windy city. I used to think they called it that because of all the wind....but now I know it is because all the people that live there like to talk. I enjoyed visiting with all the people there. We got our kicks on Route 66, went to visit my grandma, went to the farm, went on the Ledge of the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears building), took a tour of the city on a double decker bus, stopped at Navy Pier, got some free popcorn from Garrett's, got a free t-shirt at Millinium Park, and took a ton of pictures. I definately needed that vacation. You are going to think I'm weird, but I also got a lot of cards made on this trip. Most people read or sleep while they are on the plane or when they are waiting for their next flight. Not me. I brought a pencil box with some scissors, 5x8 paper, glue, and some stickers and worked on assembling the cards. I actually made 75 cards on the plane and while we were waiting in the terminal. All the kids were starring at me like I was crazy...it didn't matter, I got it done. Actually that helped me get a couple of orders. When I was at my grandma's house I took pictures of the gifts that I had made her over the years that she had on display throughout her house. I thought I'd share those pictures with all of you. Enjoy!!! ![]() This is an ostritch egg that I converted into a nativity scene. I actually forgot that I had made it until I had seen in in my grandma's display cabinent. I've only made 2 of these eggs. I gave it to my grandma because I got the inspiration from her. She used to decorate chicken eggs with Christmas scenes in them and we'd hang them on our tree as Christmas decorations. She did beautiful work. I think the other one I made was given to my cousin and it has a nutcracker scene in it....that's another story...I'll tell you later. I remeber using a dremmel to cut these eggs and thinking "How in the world can an ostritch get out of this egg" because it took me forever to cut it in half. ![]() This is the heritage blanket that I had made for my grandma a few years back. I had been working on all of her genelogy scrapbooks in 2000. So I decided to use my computer to make a quilt for her using the same information. The pictures on this quilt are of her parents (my great grandparents) and all of her brothers and sisters when they were little. I also used the computer to add on the dates, and names of those in the picture. This quilt reminds me of a giant scrapbook page of my grandma's family history. I hope it will be treasured by many generations to came. Check out the next picture for a better view of all the details. Look out....I'm heading out to Chicago because it's my kind of town. I'm going out to visit my grandma and introduce her to my DH for the 1st time. It will be good to see her again. I haven't been out there since 2000. I hope I can get some good pictures and start working on some of my own scrapbook stuff for a change.
So in case you didn't see all the red lettering everywhere...I won't be able to respond to e-mail or sales requests until I get back, because my grandma does not have internet capabilities out there. But feel free to look around. Maybe you'll be inspired and go make something that sparks your interest. I better go pack...I'm so bad. Yesterday I got tired of dragging my craft stuff back and forth between the computer room and my craft room just to use the cricut design studio (CDS) software. I was making a huge mess in both rooms and it started driving me crazy and I'm sure Ed didn't like it either. So I decided to move my computer into the craft room and give Ed a space of his own. It is so much better. Now I can play with the CDS and keep my mess contained to one area. I feel so much more productive.
Yesterday I also finished making a sample for a DIY project for my friend's son. I think it turned out so cute. She wanted a fire truck. I looked through my cartridges, but I didn't have one. I played around with the CDS and made my own fire truck using the George basic shapes, animal kingdon, paper dolls, and graphically speaking cartridges. It turned out awesome. I made a side view, a front view, and then decided to put them together to make a centerpiece. I also made a fire man putting out a fire. I really liked seeing this project coming together. Check it out for yourselves. |
