Today I worked on some Christmas bags and I was so happy because the website finally came up. It has been fun working on this project this summer. It has kept me out of trouble and doing all these crafts is therapuetic. Since this is the first summer that I didn't have to do prep work for the next school year, this was a blessing in disguise. I would have gone stir crazy with so much time on my hands. I'm kinda nervous about going back to work and trying to do this on the side. I just hope I have enough time to do both.
I could have killed my dog today. She made me so mad. I took 8 picture frames outside and painted them and was letting them dry outside while I was doing some other things. I let the dog outside and forgot about the the frames. When I came out to check on them, they were all over the yard. The dog had pulled them off the table and started chewing them all up. I managed to salvage four of them. I was so mad. I wanted the dog to pay for all the damages. Then I realized she was just doing what dogs do. Se la vi.

I am getting frustrated trying to post this website up. For some strange reason it hasn't posted since Monday. So it is like I'm writing to myself.
This week has been full of ups and downs. Last week I broke the washing machine door. I still haven't recieved the part to fix it. I had an interview on Friday and I don't think I'm going to get that job. It looks like I'm going to being working back at the high school as a rover. It's not my ideal job, but it is a job. I guess that's why part of the reason why I started this website/business. I needed a back up plan in case that job offer fell through. It was so cool to get my first sale. I put up pictures of my work on facebook before I started making this website. I got a lot of traffic, but people wanted more information. So here I am. I even have the lady that helped finance our house interested in seeing what I had to offer. All I can do is wait. I guess in the meantime I will work on making the link for the store work for now. I have quite a few hidden links created and I hope to share them with you soon. I really like this website company. It is so easy to use. I actually can't believe I have this much stuff already on the site because I just started it this past weekend. I'm trying to do what I can because we're getting ready to go to Chicago. I'm excited. It has been a long time since I've seen my grandma and it will be Ed's first time to meet her. After we visit with her we are going to spend 2 nights downtown. I really want to go and see the Ledge...on the Sears tower (they changed the name of it, but I can't remeber the name) they built a glass ledge that you can walk out over on the top floor. I'm gonna find out if I'm scared of heights or not. I think I am because I was nervous when I had to paint the outside patio structure in our backyard earlier this summer. I also want to go to Navy Pier. Other than that I'm open and ready to go on vacation from my vacation. When we come back, I will have only 5 days left until I have to go back to work. I'm not ready for that yet. But I hope to have this website/business off the ground by then. Everything so far has been by word of mouth. My cousin is advertizing for me by putting my information on everthing she's made for Yvonne's bridal shower. Yvonne is getting married next month...I'm so happy for her. Well I better try to figure out how to fix publishing this site. Have an awesome day and may it be filled with creativity! I am so excited...today I finally recieved my cricut design studio (CDS) software. This is what my DH gave me for my anniversary...actually I ordered it and I let him give it to me...it works out well because then I get what I want. For those of you that don't know CDS allows you to weld together images from different cricut cartridges to form a unique design. I had created some files using the trial version and I finally broke down and bought the software on EBAY. After I called and activated the software, I have been happily creating some really cool designs. Check them out: These were all made with George Basic Shapes. You can personalize anything to what you need. It is awesome!!! I got wild and crazy with the CDS and made this cool title. As I was experimenting with the CDS I figured out that you can copy the image from the 1st pg, open up a new page and copy it in there and when you run it through the machine with the 2nd color it will print out the next color (This one had 4 colors and cuts). It was fun making my own designs. Watch out when you start using this software. It is addicting and you lose track of time quickly. But the results are amazing. And the best thing is that since I saved the file, I will never have to re-do the design...all I have to do is put in my paper and start cutting away. Before I got CDS, I hated all the disney character cartridges. It would frustrate me to keep switching paper and then I'd lose 1/2 the little pieces. I was able to make several winnie the pooh designs at the same time, with CDS which saved me a ton of time and paper. How cool is that! (Tip: You can get the right size shirt by moving it over image on the 1st page and sizing it up the right way, then you copy it and paste it on a new page. I labeled my pages by color so when I saved it I'd know exactly what colors I'd need for future projects...I'm going to do the same for the rest of my pooh cartridges.) With the jos of the season and the Christmas solutions cartridge I was all to make some unique Christmas die cuts to put on future cards. I love the way they came out. I made these unique Christmas designs and I'm going to be putting them on Christmas Gift Bags. I'm blown away by what the Cricut can do. Below are 2 more. This is my first time blogging so be patient with me. Actually it is my first time making a working website. I hope you have enjoyed navigating through this site.
Here's a little bit about me. I'm a high school teacher and I work with special education kids. I was working with the severely handicapped, but I think I'm ready for a change and will be working with resource kids in the coming school year. I have really gotten my money's worth out of my Cricut. I've used it to make half of these projects, helped friends and family members decorate for parties and baby showers. It is so relaxing to just get in front of it and watch it go. I brought the Cricut to work with me last year and I had the students with severe disabilities create some Christmas crafts. They were fascinated by the machine also. I had them make my Christmas Cards, put them in evenvelopes, put mailing labels and put stamps on the cards. It was like a regular sweat shop...just kidding...it gave the kids some real life job skills that they can hopefully use some day. They did a great job making the cards and bags. We even sold them for a fundraiser for Best Buddies. That's a club where general Education students are paired with students with disabilities to form meaningful friendships. I have always made crafts for as long as I can remeber. I decided to try to sell my crafts this year at the prompting of my sister-in-law. I'm not sure where this is going to go, but it is fun to use my hobby as a way to earn extra income. Even if I only make enough to get some extra holiday spending cash, or to enough to pay for more supplies....I think it will be worth it. Today I had my first sale. It was so exciting to actually believe people would pay me to do what I like doing. I spent it all on laundry and to buy stuff at the Dollar Tree. Well I'm off to work on decorating some paperbags. Enjoy looking around. Check back often, and I hope to hear from you soon. |
