So we didn't do the whole food theme with it. They wanted Filipino food instead. So I was in charge of the decorations. Not all of the ideas are my own. I think I got some inspiration from things that I had seen on pinterest.com I made a motorcycle diaper cake and put a toy caterpillar on it. I think it turned out cute for my first one. We made these caterpillar clothespins for that game where you can't say baby. We made a diaper fund bottle to help my cousin defray some of those costs. We decorated a gumball machine that I found at the Dollar store. I had everyone chew a piece of gum and the first one to make it pop would be the winner....my original idea was to have them chew 5-10 pieces of gum, but they weren't up for it. I was going to make a string with colored pom poms dangle in front of the bathroom. But I ended up rearranging the furniture and it made a cute backdrop when I added the extra catterpillars that I had cut out. I made a book that expanded the hungry caterpillar story and when I sent out the invitations, I sent everyone a recipe card. The family had their recipe to the book and I had them draw a picture of the food and they glued on a caterpillar eating it. I think each page said something like "In Marrch, the hungry caterpillare ate __________'s( name of cook) ___________(name of recipe) and it tasted _________________(adjective). " I should have taken a picture, it was so cute.
I also made some earrings with the catterpillar by breaking apart some cheap costume jewelry that I found. I glued the beads on a leaf and added an earring hook to it for a cute set of earrings for my counsin and her mom. The give aways for everyone else was a keychain with a butterfly that I had found at the store and/or a pin with the caterpillar because more people came than I expected. I made a bunch of decorations and put them all around my living room to set the stage for the party. My cousin ended up taking them with her, so that she could put them up in her library. It was a lot of work to get this together. But the end result, the smiles, and the laughter made it all worth it.
Enjoy the pictures and the rest of your week.
