Christmas Ornaments

I am so sorry for being a bad blogger.  I didn't know how big of a time commitment it would take to be a regular blogger.  But I am going to change my ways.  I went to a business seminar at the SBDC and it has totally transformed the way I think about this shop.  Before I just saw it as a hobby that I did on the side.  Now I guess if I want it to be more than a hobby, I have to treat it as such.  So I am going to try to post more pictures and projects in a more timely fashion.  I'm always creating something.  I have just been bad about taking pictures and sharing them with all of you...but that is going to change starting today.

I'm going to set aside 1 night a week to blog about something.  Once I get more consistent at doing that, I plan to increase it to 2 nights a week.  It is just me needing to get into routines and start sharing the new creations with the world.

Here are some of the ornaments that I have been working on.  I'm going to start selling these Christmas ornaments at the shows that I'm doing now through December.  There are several different styles, but the form is basically the same.  I've used scrapbook paper, ribbon and crystal clear spray to make these stunning ornaments.  I think they turned out fabulous and I can't wait to hang them on our Christmas Tree this year.

Nativity Craft Block

Hello!!!  I'm sorry I have been neglecting to post any articles in awhile.  Like everyone else, I've found myself caught in the I'm too busy trap.  But I'm back and I will try to post more this month than I did in September.

So here's what I've been up to.  I've been experimenting with a lot of different craft techniqes.  I've been making ornaments, trying to come up with halloween crafts, and trying to make some inventory for the upcoming shows that I have.  I'll be at the Moose Lodge in Lemon Grove this coming Saturday, the Bonsall Festival on October 16th, Carlsbad on Nov 27, and in Oceanside on December 4th.  It is crazy trying to make enough crafts to cover all these shows, working as a tutor, and also working as a senior home care provider.  I barely have enough time to breathe, but like everyone else I'm trying to do it all.  Unlike everyone else, I don't have kids, so I have a little easier time trying to do this.

So here's the details for the Nativity Block.  I picked up the glass block from Michael's.  It already had a hole cut into it.  I used the Make the Cut Software to cut out the nativity scene out of black vinyl from an .svg file I found.  I bought a little light switch and put into the hole and wrapped the box with the ribbon.  The picture doesn't give it much justice.  It was really difficult to photograph this thing, but I hope you like it.

I have some other projects I need to try to complete.  So I'll post the pictures, and let you go.  Have a great week.

Christmas Already!!!

Yes I did go there!!!  Yes my friends are flakes, and yes I am the flakiest of them all.  I can't believe I'm already doing Christmas stuff.  Actually, being the true ADHD crafter that I am, I have to admit to you that I have Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween projects going on all at the same time.  Everything is blurring together and it is only September---agghhhh!!!

I actually set up a Christmas tree when we did the show at Pala Casino last week.  Amazingly, people actually bought some ornaments.  Of course, I did have some Halloween Skull Ornaments on the tree.  I didn't have a whole lot of ornaments made, so we filled the holes with my cousins' bibs and burp cloths.  I even hung some of the wreaths on the tree.  It was quite a site.  This week I started making the glass ornaments.  They are turning out so cool.  I'll have to show them to you next time, because I haven't taken pictures yet.

Yesterday, I called the lady at Viejas to see if there was still room at the craft show at Veijas next week.  She told me that the spaces were full, but she would see what she could do.  They really loved the stuff on my website, so they let me in.  I have to start making more inventory so that I can have something to sell there.  It is going to be a crazy week, but then I'm always better under pressure.  Since I found out that I was doing this show, I've made 5 wreaths, 5 halloween ornaments, 12 Christmas ornaments, and I have a ton more that I should be doing now.

So here are the pictures of some of my projects earlier this month.  Enjoy.  I'll try to get the others up soon.  Have a great weekend!

Turkey Poop

11/13/2009

Hi...hope everything is going well for you.  I stayed home from work today because I was throwing up in the morning...and no I'm not pregnant...at least I don't think I am..  I think I got enough rest so I can do that show tomorrow.  Somehow between all the meetings and all the work around the house I managed to find some time to do some crafts this week.

For the show tommorrow, I came up with a funny and cute and kinda gross idea.  I had picked up a bag of candy corn from Smart and Final a few weeks ago.  I decided to make a gift bag that said turkey poop and I put the candy corn in the bag.  I don't know how well the poop will sell, but it was enough to make me and my hubby laugh and sometimes that's all that matters.

I also went to Home Depot for my other project.  I needed a better way to display all the stuff I had made, so I went in search of that board with all the holes in it (pegboard to the salesman).  I found the size I needed, bought 2 boards, a couple of hinges, and some pegs and wah la instant display board.  Well not exactly.  I tried to try to build it myself before my husband came home.  I searched throughout all of his tools and found some rivets.  I thought this would work well, so I looked another half an hour before I found the rivet gun (aren't you impressed I knew what I was looking for?)  You would have been even more impressed if it would have actually worked, but alas I failed again.  The holes in the peg board were too big for the rivet.  So I had to wait for my hubby to come home.  After dinner I sent him out to get the right hardware.  Then he built the display board for me.  I worked way better than I thought it would.  It's portable, holds a ton of stuff, and looks great.

Have a great weekend and I hope you can use these ideas.  Thanks for looking...happy crafting to you!!!

Christmas Wreaths

11/8/2009

Next week I have another craft show to go to.  In an attempt to get ready for it, I decided to make some Christmas crafts that I used to make a long time ago.

I went to the Dollar Tree and bought a few items and turned an ordinary wreath into an extraordinary wreath.  I bought the wreaths, the floral picks, the poinsettas, ribbon and the santa claus ornaments from there.  I used wire to attach the santa head unto the wreath and reinforced it with hot glue.  Then I just started placing flowers and ribbon on the wreath until I like the way it looked.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.  Have a great week!!!

Christmas Card Sets

11/1/2009

I have been trying to organize my scrapbook room, but it has been unsuccessful.  It seems like everytime I start trying to organize, I'm like a squirrel...I see something shiny and I get distracted and start working on another project and I never end up cleaning the scrapbook room completely.  My husband thinks I have ADHD, and he's probably right...but don't tell him I admitted to that.

In my attempts to organize all my stuff, I ran across some Christmas card sets that I made.  I realized that I never posted these pictures on the blog, so I decided to put them up for you.  I bought the Christmas tags they had at Costco and then I just made these cards pretty quickly one day.  There's a set of 5 cards and I've been selling them for $5.00 at the craft shows.  They're all different.  Whatever Christmas cards I don't sell this year will end up being the cards that I send out to family and friends.  I'd rather use the cards than try to store them for an entire year.  I already have too much junk around my house as it is.  This is a quick way to get cute handmade looking cards at a reasonable price.  You can take this idea and run with it, or you can purchase the ones I've already made in my online store.  I think I have 3 sets left.  Have a great week, and take some time out of your day to do something nice for yourself for a change.  Enjoy the pictures.

New Christmas Cards

10/22/2009

Hi!  I'm so excited!!!  Today I finished another meeting with a parent and I only have one more for the month of October.  That means I'll have more time to work on my crafts!!!

I celebrated finishing up the last IEP meeting by making some new Christmas cards.  I wasn't sure how they would turn out, but I think they will make a great set of Christmas cards.  I had these stickers of these kids dressed in winter clothes and had no idea what to do with them.  So today I made 6 cards and was able to use up most of the stickers.  I love using stickers I already have because then I know that I didn't waste all that money I spent on those stickers in the first place.  I don't know if I told you this or not.  Over the summer I decided to take out all of my stickers and clothes pin them on a ribbon on the wall in my craft room.  I have saved so much money using what I already had.  I was notorious for buying stickers, storing them in a file folder and then forgetting that I had them.  I think I have several sticker sets from when I first started scrapbooking in the early 90's.  I probably have enough scrapbooking stuff to open up a small craft store.   It's just so cool to see all my old stickers transform into these beautiful cards and scrapbooks.  I'm so glad I'm not letting these things go to waste anymore.  So without further ado, here are my latest cards.  Have a scrap-happy kind of week and enjoy your weekend---I'll be doing another show at an elementary school :)

Gift Bags

10/12/2009

I'm almost ready for this show on Saturday.  I have everything packed up in boxes and I'm ready to go and start setting up.  I just finished making up a few more gift bags.  I used my Crop-A-Dile to attach the rest of the gift tags I bought from Costco unto some bags I found at the Dollar tree.  They turned out professional looking.

I have to start working on more of the ornaments.  I've been putting off making the ornaments and the Do-it-yourself kits.  I'm not sure what people are going to be looking for.  We are going to bring the Cricut with us, so people can make some of their own creations and  take it home with them after they make it.  I'm so glad I have the PT Cruiser, because there is so much stuff that I need to transport.  I better start putting more of the ornaments together.  Enjoy the pictures and have a fantastic week.

New Christmas Cards

10/9/2009

I went down to Costco yesterday and bought some of their Christmas gift tags.  I started making some Christmas cards yesterday.  I surprised myself and ened up making 25 cards yesterday and some more today.  I also went down to the Dollar Tree and bought some more gift bags.  I think I'll start working on those tommorrow.

On Wednesday I went on Craigslist and found out some information for a local craft fair.  They are having a carft fair on Nov 17th in San Diego.  They are not charging anything for the space rental like they typically do at these craft fairs.  Instead they want 15% of your proceeds to be donated to their high school drama department for the space rental.  It sounded like a fantastic opportunity and so I e-mailed the lady and next month I will be part of that event.  It should be a great learning experience for me.  If you want more information about this event, let me know and I can forward the information to you.  Have a great week and happy crafting!!!

The Cards

9/28/2009

So yesterday I left you hanging about what the new cards I made looked like.  Well I charged my camera's battery.  I almost had to postpone it again, because I bent the plug that lets you upload the pictures to the computer...but I fixed it.  I've also made one more thing that I'm adding to this post.  In a couple of weeks I'm doing a craft show.  All the research I've done to set up craft table for a craft show indicated that you should make a sign advertising your business name/logo.  So I went to my Cricut for help again and used my design Studio Software to make up the sign and I've included a picture of that sign also.  I still have a ton of work to do, so I'm keeping this short and I hope you have a great time crafting away.  Have a great week!!!
