Ahoy Matey!!!  I just returned from a voyage to my friend's house in Orange County.  This is the friend I was making all the baby shower stuff for.  We made a deal that I would make her all that stuff in exchange for a plain diaper cake that I would decorate.  After we went to a Women's Fellowship Breakfast, we went down to Michael's to find some stuff to decorate it with.

My Sister-in-Law is having a pirate themed baby shower (same one I made all those invitations for).  So we found some unfinished wooden pirates, a parrot, and even a pirate ship.  As soon as I drove home, I started working on painting the pirate ship.  I had my husband color in the pirates and he did an awesome job.  I just finished gluing on the pieces and took some pictures.  I think it turned out super cute.  I can't wait to see Leia's face when I give it to her...I think she is going to love it. 

My friend Eva showed me how to make the diaper cake, so I think I will have to try it myself for the next baby shower I go to.  She said she used 120 diapers on this one.  She connected the layers with a baby bottle in the middle and chopsticks and a ton of rubber bands.  For the base, she cut a circle out of the box that the diapers came in.  She usually wraps it in toulle, but we found a big enough shrink wrap bag that we are going to use.  I just haven't put it in the bag yet.

Happy New Year!!!  I hope you enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  I just got back from my cousin's house this morning.  It seems like I went from one house to another for over a week now.  It is so good to be home.

My Darling Husband got me a new Cricut Cartridge....Life's a Beach.  I think he is so wonderful.  But it couldn't have come at a better time.  When we visited my sister-in-law they were talking about making baby shower invitations for her in February.  I told them I might be able to help them out.  They wanted to do a pirate themed baby shower.  I never heard of that before, but I was up for the challenge.  I just finished designing 4 different pirate themed baby shower invitations earlier today.  My first 2 attempts screamed pirate theme party, but not baby shower.  My next two attempts were better.  You can't tell in the pictures, but the sails on the boats are actually copies of a picture of Leia's ultrasound that she had posted on Facebook awhile back.  I hope she like them.  It was fun trying to come up with all the details and the wording for these invitations. 

I decided not to make any new year's resolutions this year.  It seems like that would only take time away from my crafts, and I didn't really want to do that.  So I guess I will just try to be more organized so I can have more time to do what I like to do.
