Here's a little bit about me. I'm a high school teacher and I work with special education kids. I was working with the severely handicapped, but I think I'm ready for a change and will be working with resource kids in the coming school year.
I have really gotten my money's worth out of my Cricut. I've used it to make half of these projects, helped friends and family members decorate for parties and baby showers. It is so relaxing to just get in front of it and watch it go.
I brought the Cricut to work with me last year and I had the students with severe disabilities create some Christmas crafts. They were fascinated by the machine also. I had them make my Christmas Cards, put them in evenvelopes, put mailing labels and put stamps on the cards. It was like a regular sweat shop...just kidding...it gave the kids some real life job skills that they can hopefully use some day. They did a great job making the cards and bags. We even sold them for a fundraiser for Best Buddies. That's a club where general Education students are paired with students with disabilities to form meaningful friendships.
I have always made crafts for as long as I can remeber. I decided to try to sell my crafts this year at the prompting of my sister-in-law. I'm not sure where this is going to go, but it is fun to use my hobby as a way to earn extra income. Even if I only make enough to get some extra holiday spending cash, or to enough to pay for more supplies....I think it will be worth it.
Today I had my first sale. It was so exciting to actually believe people would pay me to do what I like doing. I spent it all on laundry and to buy stuff at the Dollar Tree.
Well I'm off to work on decorating some paperbags. Enjoy looking around. Check back often, and I hope to hear from you soon.
