In my attempts to organize all my stuff, I ran across some Christmas card sets that I made. I realized that I never posted these pictures on the blog, so I decided to put them up for you. I bought the Christmas tags they had at Costco and then I just made these cards pretty quickly one day. There's a set of 5 cards and I've been selling them for $5.00 at the craft shows. They're all different. Whatever Christmas cards I don't sell this year will end up being the cards that I send out to family and friends. I'd rather use the cards than try to store them for an entire year. I already have too much junk around my house as it is. This is a quick way to get cute handmade looking cards at a reasonable price. You can take this idea and run with it, or you can purchase the ones I've already made in my online store. I think I have 3 sets left. Have a great week, and take some time out of your day to do something nice for yourself for a change. Enjoy the pictures.
I have been trying to organize my scrapbook room, but it has been unsuccessful. It seems like everytime I start trying to organize, I'm like a squirrel...I see something shiny and I get distracted and start working on another project and I never end up cleaning the scrapbook room completely. My husband thinks I have ADHD, and he's probably right...but don't tell him I admitted to that.

Hi! I'm so excited!!! Today I finished another meeting with a parent and I only have one more for the month of October. That means I'll have more time to work on my crafts!!!
I celebrated finishing up the last IEP meeting by making some new Christmas cards. I wasn't sure how they would turn out, but I think they will make a great set of Christmas cards. I had these stickers of these kids dressed in winter clothes and had no idea what to do with them. So today I made 6 cards and was able to use up most of the stickers. I love using stickers I already have because then I know that I didn't waste all that money I spent on those stickers in the first place. I don't know if I told you this or not. Over the summer I decided to take out all of my stickers and clothes pin them on a ribbon on the wall in my craft room. I have saved so much money using what I already had. I was notorious for buying stickers, storing them in a file folder and then forgetting that I had them. I think I have several sticker sets from when I first started scrapbooking in the early 90's. I probably have enough scrapbooking stuff to open up a small craft store. It's just so cool to see all my old stickers transform into these beautiful cards and scrapbooks. I'm so glad I'm not letting these things go to waste anymore. So without further ado, here are my latest cards. Have a scrap-happy kind of week and enjoy your weekend---I'll be doing another show at an elementary school :) I went down to Costco yesterday and bought some of their Christmas gift tags. I started making some Christmas cards yesterday. I surprised myself and ened up making 25 cards yesterday and some more today. I also went down to the Dollar Tree and bought some more gift bags. I think I'll start working on those tommorrow.
On Wednesday I went on Craigslist and found out some information for a local craft fair. They are having a carft fair on Nov 17th in San Diego. They are not charging anything for the space rental like they typically do at these craft fairs. Instead they want 15% of your proceeds to be donated to their high school drama department for the space rental. It sounded like a fantastic opportunity and so I e-mailed the lady and next month I will be part of that event. It should be a great learning experience for me. If you want more information about this event, let me know and I can forward the information to you. Have a great week and happy crafting!!! So yesterday I left you hanging about what the new cards I made looked like. Well I charged my camera's battery. I almost had to postpone it again, because I bent the plug that lets you upload the pictures to the computer...but I fixed it. I've also made one more thing that I'm adding to this post. In a couple of weeks I'm doing a craft show. All the research I've done to set up craft table for a craft show indicated that you should make a sign advertising your business name/logo. So I went to my Cricut for help again and used my design Studio Software to make up the sign and I've included a picture of that sign also. I still have a ton of work to do, so I'm keeping this short and I hope you have a great time crafting away. Have a great week!!!
It has been crazy busy at work. I have so many upcoming meetings in October it is ridiculous. I think I have so many meetings with parents that I'm going to have meetings coming out of my ears. It amazes me that Special Ed teachers have any time at all to teach, because they are always in meetings.
I needed a distraction from all my other work, so I tried to make some cards to relax. It is nice to be home in quiet place where I can retreat from the constant demands of life. I'm sick right now, but I still wanted to make cards and share them with you. I think I should be sick more often because I think these cards turned out fantastic. It is amazing how calming cutting paper can be. I often lose track of time when I retreat to my craft room. Cards are the quickest and the easiest things to make, I guess that's why I've made so many. Next week I'll try to work on something else because you might be bored of looking at all these cards by now. I bought some wooden jewelry boxes from Dollar tree...I need to work on decorating those. Hopefully my dog won't eat those like he ate up the picture frames last time. Well I guess I better put these pictures up because I got to go make dinner because dinner won't make itself. Have a great week and remeber tomorrow is Friday!!! Enjoy the pictures and maybe it will give you some ideas. Today was back to school night and yesterday was my birthday. So I didn't really get much done as far as scrapbooking goes. I did wish I had my Cricut at the school the other day when the teacher asked me to make a board for her. It would have been so much better than the free-style stuff I made for her.
But I have to tell you...my husband is so cute. He borrowed my Cricut to make my birthday card. And then he wrote a cute little poem in the card. It was so sweet...I just started giggling because it is so out of character for him. Next week is my mother-in-law's b-day so I just made her a card/package and I sent off that card/package for my sister-in-law's baby today. For my MIL card. I used the punch and layered it with ribbon and added a b-day sticker I had and added a gemstone for the candle above the cupcake. Nothing fancy, but it's better than paying $4.00 for a card from the store. I think handmade cards say so much more to the recipients than a store bought card. I also like the blank cards better, because it forces the sender to write something more than just their names. I've gotten quite a few compliments on the letters I've written to people. I think the art of writing letters is dying out because of all the text messaging, advances in technology, cell phones, Twittering, e-mail, etc. Sometimes it's nice knowing someone took the time out of their day to slow down and write out a real note. I don't like getting those cards where someone just signs their name on a card. But that's just me. Anyways, I'm off my soapbox now. Here's what you came for...here's the picture of my MIL card. Enjoy and I hope to have something different for you later on this week. Have a great rest of your week---it's almost Friday---yeah!!! I just finished a few more Christmas Cards. I loved the way they turned out, but before I show them to you I wanted to make an announcement. The blog is more current than the rest of the website. If you ever find that you like something that I just made, shoot me an e-mail and I'll let you know the price and if you want it I can set it aside before putting it up on the website and I'll write up an order and send it out to you when the payment is recieved.
Anywho, here are some of my latest Christmas Cards. I used a punch to get the flower border around the edge of the paper. It was super hard to press the punch down, even when I put all my weight on it. I asked my hubby to help, and he set up a clamp with a piece of wood behind the clampy part and then I was able to press it down easily by turing the clamp handle. I also found my corner cutter and rounded the edges to give the card a softer appearance. Then I layered the paper and attached a Mary Engelbret Sticker I found at Michael's. I hope I have a big enough variety for this craft fair next month. Enjoy the pictures and I hope this inspires you to go out and make some cards of your own. Have a great week!!! Sorry I haven't written much this week. I kept starting and then life kept pulling me away. I started a message Thursday and then I remembered that I didn't have the pictures ready and I was going to upload them Friday, but I couldn't get to it because my husband got into a car accident.
Praise God He's ok, but the car is totalled. He was going to work and was exiting the hwy. He got hit by a car from behind. That pushed him into traffic. He got hit again and was pushed towards the center divider in the fast lane. He said the steering column came off in his hands, so he had no control of the car whatsoever. He thinks another car hit him too, but he's not sure. I know God's angels were watching over him because he walked away without a scratch. They had to take him to the hospital in an ambulence to check for whiplash. He said they tied him down to the gurney with duct tape in addition to the straps. I had to have my cell phone of vibrate because I was in a conference. I had put my phone on the back of the chair and felt it move. When I found out I left in a hurry and tried not to get into an accident myself. I didn't even know where the hospital that they took him to was at. By the time I got there, he had been released from the hospital. We had to go back to the car to get his glasses. When I saw the car, I was shocked that Ed hadn't had any injuries. The whole back end was smashed in on both sides. You couldn't open the trunk or the 2 back doors. The passenger side was all messed up and the mirror on the passenger's side was dangling down. The steering wheel was on the floor. He said he had just filled the car up with gas too. I'm surprised that the car didn't explode into flames because there was that much damage. I just kept saying that I was so glad that I didn't stop to get his glasses 1st because I would have been more of basket case than I already was. I can't believe that my husband had called the car rental place, was going to drive without his glasses (he's blind as a bat) to the towing yard and try to get his glasses from the car. I'm so glad I told him to stay at the hospital. He probably would have got into another accident. We just bought this car 3 months ago when his other car died on the hwy because the transmission blew out. I'm just so grateful to God that he is alright, I was not ready to be a widow yet. It was a miracle that he made it out alive, and it made me realize how much I really do love him. Don't ever take the people around you for granted, you don't know how long they'll be around. But before the accident had happened, I learned that my sister in law was 12 weeks pregnant. She's been on bed rest the whole time. She has had several miscarriages in the past and her husband in serving overseas in the military right now. The poor thing has been sick the whole time. I think I'm going to send her a care package in the next couple of weeks. Earlier this week I started making some congratulations cards for her. I think that they turned out super cute. So for those of you that like to look at pictures, here are the pictures of the cards I made this week. I didn't put the shadows on the pictures, that's how the light hit them when I took the pictures in the morning. I think I'm going to send the first one to Leia. If you'd like to make a card and send it to my sister-in-law leave me a comment and I'll put your cards in the care package. In return, I can send out 5 free christmas diecuts to anyone that wants to help out. I'll give you more details by e-mail. Thanks for your help in advanced. Have a great week and stay safe out there. Have you ever noticed that they are putting up Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas stuff up earlier and earlier each year. You'd think they were all in the same month. It's really weird going into Michael's and you go down one aisle with a bunch of goblins and ghouls, and the next aisle you go up has santa claus, reindeer, and angels. It seems kinda odd to me that pumpkins, scarecrows, and turkeys are thrown into the mix. I guess that what makes the end of the year seem to fly by. Or maybe it just seems so hectic because of all the parties, celebrations and gatherings we go to at this time of year. Sometimes it is nice just to have a slow weekend where you can relax and just enjoy life, your home, and being with your family. I think that's why I like to scrapbook, it helps me to slow down when the world around me is spinning out of control. The hum of the Cricut has a calming effect and I just love coming back to create something new.
This morning before things started getting crazy with going to the grocery store, laundry, cooking, and cleaning, I had a chance to play with my crafts. I think I do some of my best work in the morning before anyone else gets up. Today I decided to make some Halloween cards. I had some Halloween ribbons laying around that wanted to be used. I can't believe that I actually made 14 cards before 9:30. I'm telling you the cricut design studio software has saved me a ton of time. So here's what you've all been waiting for: A Ghoul Time....That was bad...sorry I think my hubby's cheesy jokes are rubbing off on me. My favorite one is the 2nd one...I love how the ghost is in the doorway of the haunted house. I'm going to make a page in the card store with the rest of them. Enjoy the cards and take some time to make something for yourself today. So last week was my first week back to work. It's a new job for me. It has been really good. The only bad thing is that is eating up all my time to make the crafts that I want to make. But that's ok, making my crafts is more relaxing than anything anyways.
This morning I finished up some cards, made a couple of new designs with my cricut design studio software---I think you are really going to like them....hopefully I can post them in a couple of days. I was proud of myself for kinda straightening up my craft room. That is an accomplishment in and of itself. I also added a few more links to the store. I'm almost done uploading all the pictures of the scrapbook pages in the store and I still have a long way to go on all the cards. These are the cards I made in the morning---not my best work, but I just got tired of all the pieces sitting around so I threw them all together mostly to get them out of the way. Enjoy. |
