Korea
I was stationed in Korea for one year in 1999. During that time, I spent most of my free time teaching English to different people. I think I was on a will work for food program, because they bought me dinner every time I helped with their studies. One of the families I worked with was part of a hiking club. I went with Mr. Yu to one meeting and made contact with some teachers that were trying to improve their English. Through that group, I was able to be taken on several different hiking trips all over Korea. I think we went on 1-2 trips a month. I learned a lot about the culture, the food, and let me tell you---even when I was at my top fitness levels in the military, I still had a hard time running up those mountains with these 60 and 70 year old men that we went with. I look back on these photos with fond memories. I still keep in touch with some of the people from that group.
When I made these scrapbooks I was experiment with oragami and paper piecing. But I never stuck with it after these scrapbooks because it took to long to make one page.
