Geneology on my Dad's side
In Feb. of 2000, my grandma had a stroke. Two months later I got out of the military. I was having trouble finding work. My family asked me to stay with my grandma and help her out over the summer, because my aunts were having a hard time getting my grandma's wheelchair in and out of their car. That summer she was scheduled to go to physical therapy 1-2 times a week and she had a doctor's appointment weekly.
So I went over to help her out. There was a lot of down time. So since I had all this time to spend with my grandma, I decided to make the most of it. My grandma had been doing the family history on her side of the family for quite some time. She loved talking about it. So for most of the summer I squeezed all the information I could out of her. I made up a time line and writing everything down on notecards. She had made copies of all the old pictures she had and she gave a set of them to all of her kids and her grandkids. I spent most of the summer writing down the family history based on what she told me. When I came home, I started putting together this geneology book of their family. It took a lot of work but the final product in it's simplicity is an heirloom that I proudly share with anyone that is willing to look.
