Before the craftshow I went to last week, I made a scrapbook cookbook. I think the batteries on my camera were dead, so I couldn't post the pictures until now. This is a great gift idea for a mom or a sister that is hard to shop for. I found the recipe cards and the stickers at Big Lots. This little 6x6 cookbook is a great way to show off your pictures along with your favorite recipes. Last year I had made a cookbook with all of my mom's favorite recipes and some old pictures using www.snapfish.com. Everyone loved those photo cookbooks. My husband had some of his mom's recipes on 3x5 cards and I typed the recipe on one page and had 4-5 old pictures of him and his brother on the other side. I did the same for my family's recipes and pictures. Not only are these gifts precious, practical, and thoughtful---they are great to pass down through the generations. You have all your family favorite recipes next to your favorite pictures of your family. It is not that expensive to make them either. I think each book was about $10-20. Below are the pictures of the scrapbook cookbook that I made. I'll have to take pictures of the other digitall cookbooks and upload them later. Hopefully, this inspires you to make your own family favorite recipe scrapbook. Have an awesome week!!! Happy Halloween!!!
Sorry it has been so long since I've posted anything. I spent most of this week in meetings and then after work I had to take my car into the shop to get the motor mounts fixed. I haven't had much time to sit, let alone do crafts. Is it me, or does this year seem like it is going super fast and life is just really crazy hectic right now?

Good morning!!! Today I just woke up and felt inspired to work on several 8x8 scrapbook pages and 12x12 pages. I had a bunch of hunting and camping stickers that I've had for several years and I just decided to use them. I could probably make a hundred pages with just the stickers I have here that I haven't used. Alot of my stickers are from the Dollar Tree, Big Lots, or the 99 cent stores. Some are part of a kit and I just haven't used them. This month I'm going to try to use the stickers I have, without buying anymore...my husband will be thrilled about that...I just hope I can stick to it.
So this morning I made a Deer Season page, a Duck Hunting page, and an Opening day page. My dad used to hunt, but there's not too many people here in San Diego that I know that hunt. I also made some Youth Camp pages, a volley ball page, a skiingpage, a rock and roll page, and a 1950's at the Hop page. Altogether I made 10 pages (7--8x8 and 3--12x12). That's pretty good for me. It seems like I can put the pages together much faster when I pre-cut my 12x12 pages into 8x8 squares, 4x4 squares, 4x6 squares, and 2x8 rectangles. I like making 8x8 pages and then gluing them on a 12x12 page and adding more 4x4 photo mats. It seems to be a pretty good formula for making some great looking pages. The pre-made pages come together pretty quickly this way. I have to go and do the fun chores around the house now. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed making them. Today was kinda hectic. I was running around all day at school, and I kept having to run around when I came home. I got home and guess what was in the mail---my business permit-----Yeah!!!
I'm excited...everything is falling into place. I also contacted the people from the newspaper and the ad should go in the paper this week. I'm almost through with all the paper work. So after I got done calling the people from the paper I realized that this Saturday was my cousin's wedding...it kinda snuck up on me. I already knew what I wanted to get her, it was just a matter of going out and getting it. You got to understand my cousin and my sense of humor to get this gift. She likes having everything done for her and lives in a fantasy world where everything is handed to her on a silver platter. She actually expected her parents to pay for her car insurance once she got married. So that's where this gift and my sense of humor come in. I like to bring people back to reality. (I did make her a photo albumn for her bridal shower, I can be nice too). So I went to the store and bought her a lanudry basket and filled it up with every cleaning supply that I could think of. Laundry soap, softner, dish soap, a mop, toilet brush, rubber gloves, toilet paper, towels and some other stuff I can't remeber. Then I used my Cricut design studio software to make a sign that said "Congratulations Welcome to the Married Life." I finished off the sign with a bride and a groom. It turned out better than I thought it would. It's cute, funny and practical. So I thought I'd share it with you and see what you think. Enjoy the rest of your week. Yesterday, I finally finished a wedding albumn that I had been putting off for a long time. I bought the albumn 2 or 3 months ago and just never got around to making it. It was actually a pretty quick and easy albumn to put together. I surprised myself and finished the whole thing in about 2 hours. It's amazing what you can do when you just put your mind to it.
I've been experimenting with putting things on Ebay and this is one of the 4 items that I have on there. I'm not sure how well it will do, but you never know until you try. Besides Ebay has free listing fees every month for the first 5 items you sell, so how hard can it really be....if I can do it, anybody can. The wedding albumn itself is pretty simple. It is an 8x8 book. I cut some 12x12 pages down to 8x8, 6x6 and 4x4 squares. I glued a single ribbon on the 6x6 square, glued it on the 8x8 page, and then put a 4x4 square on top of the ribbon. I like doing my cards and scrapbooking this way for a simple yet sophisticated look. I think it helps keep the focus on the pictures instead of on all the fluff that sometimes surrounds scrapbook pages. I then added the typical wedding titles, and before I knew it I was done with the book. I have my cousin's wedding to go to this weekend, but I already gave her an ABC'c of Marriage scrapbook, so I'll have to do something different for her. I'm thinking something to do with laundry and cleaning supplies. You know the truth behind every Cinderella Wedding. If only the mice would help me do all my chores....or if I could get a broom/mop like Mickey Mouse had in Fantasia. Well since I can't have it all...I guess I'll go scrub the floors after I'm done posting this. Have a great day and make the most out of every opportunity you have this week. (Sorry I'm having some technical difficulties with loading the pictures, so this is all you can see for now...I'll try uploading some later) I had the day off, so I decided to play with my Cricut Design studio Software. I worked hard all week, so I deserved some much needed R & R. I am having so much fun with the CDS....it's like I've expanded my whole cartridge collection 10 times. I've been making so many christmas bags and cards. I love all the angel designs on the Christmas solutions cartridge. I also like how you can flip the images and weld them together. You never know what you can come up with until you try. I am 95% done loading up all my scrapbook pages to the store. Check it out if you have a chance.
The first card is an agel that I aligned along the midline of the CDS mat. I welded together 2 angels (I copied one angel and then flipped it and welded the wings together). When it was ust out, I folded it in half and it looked like a really cool card, so I wrote Merry Christmas in it. I made the other angels using the angel body on the Christmas solutions cartridge and some swirly looking thing on the Storybook cartridge and welded the 2 images together along with the merry christmas phrase I found in the wild card cartridge. I glued the images on a gift bag. It was pretty much the same for the rest of the stuff I made today. The last picture I had to make into a 12x12 scrapbook page because it was a lot bigger than my gift bag. I think it worked out ok, even though it wasn't what I was orginally going for. Sometimes a lot of my projects start off one way and end up as something else, because I hate wasting the paper. Enjoy and go be creative. So last week was my first week back to work. It's a new job for me. It has been really good. The only bad thing is that is eating up all my time to make the crafts that I want to make. But that's ok, making my crafts is more relaxing than anything anyways.
This morning I finished up some cards, made a couple of new designs with my cricut design studio software---I think you are really going to like them....hopefully I can post them in a couple of days. I was proud of myself for kinda straightening up my craft room. That is an accomplishment in and of itself. I also added a few more links to the store. I'm almost done uploading all the pictures of the scrapbook pages in the store and I still have a long way to go on all the cards. These are the cards I made in the morning---not my best work, but I just got tired of all the pieces sitting around so I threw them all together mostly to get them out of the way. Enjoy. Hi....hope you are having a great time crafting away. I just changed part of the store front. I organized the scrapbook section for easier viewing. All the pages have been categorized by theme and a lot of new inventory has been uploaded. I don't have all the links done yet, so I put up a coming soon section and will keep working on getting the rest of the links up and running soon.
I want to show you one of my favorite pages that I made when I cleared out my scrap drawer. It's a baby page that kinda came together out of nothing. Let me know how you like it. Sorry about the technical difficulties. I've sent in a request to Weebly to have the blog looked at. If you're reading this you found the temporary fix. Congratulations.
I went back to school on Thursday. There's always a great energy buzzing around a school when the 1st day of school arrives. I don't know what will happen this year, but we are going to keep moving forward. My plan is to work on the website/craft stuff after work until I have to stop to fix dinner for my hubby. I'm in the process of uploading more scrapbook pages into the store and organizing them by theme. It's all done behind the scenes, but I'll let you know when it's done. I'm also going to upload some of those cards I made on the plane. If you haven't already checked out my scrapbooks...head on over there now. For now here is a sneak peak of what is to come. I am so excited...today I finally recieved my cricut design studio (CDS) software. This is what my DH gave me for my anniversary...actually I ordered it and I let him give it to me...it works out well because then I get what I want. For those of you that don't know CDS allows you to weld together images from different cricut cartridges to form a unique design. I had created some files using the trial version and I finally broke down and bought the software on EBAY. After I called and activated the software, I have been happily creating some really cool designs. Check them out: These were all made with George Basic Shapes. You can personalize anything to what you need. It is awesome!!! I got wild and crazy with the CDS and made this cool title. As I was experimenting with the CDS I figured out that you can copy the image from the 1st pg, open up a new page and copy it in there and when you run it through the machine with the 2nd color it will print out the next color (This one had 4 colors and cuts). It was fun making my own designs. Watch out when you start using this software. It is addicting and you lose track of time quickly. But the results are amazing. And the best thing is that since I saved the file, I will never have to re-do the design...all I have to do is put in my paper and start cutting away. Before I got CDS, I hated all the disney character cartridges. It would frustrate me to keep switching paper and then I'd lose 1/2 the little pieces. I was able to make several winnie the pooh designs at the same time, with CDS which saved me a ton of time and paper. How cool is that! (Tip: You can get the right size shirt by moving it over image on the 1st page and sizing it up the right way, then you copy it and paste it on a new page. I labeled my pages by color so when I saved it I'd know exactly what colors I'd need for future projects...I'm going to do the same for the rest of my pooh cartridges.) With the jos of the season and the Christmas solutions cartridge I was all to make some unique Christmas die cuts to put on future cards. I love the way they came out. I made these unique Christmas designs and I'm going to be putting them on Christmas Gift Bags. I'm blown away by what the Cricut can do. Below are 2 more. |
