Happy Monday to you!!! Well it has been crazy around here. They just started the STAR testing at the school and they have changed the schedule for an entire month. It is hard to figure out where I'm supposed to be everyday. I'm glad that I have my crafts to unwind to at the end of the day. Maybe some day I can quit my day job and do this full time.
In May, my weekends are booked with a ton of activities. I booked 3 craft shows and I have to go to our annual Mother Daughter Tea Party in addition to finding the time to finish up my last 5 IEP's. It's going to be tight, but I'm sure I can manage. Here's the line up: May 1: Escondido Humane Society May 8: Mother Daughter Tea Party and Ladies Shopping spree in the Downtown Escondido area May 15: Holmes Elementary School in San Diego Hopefully the Humane Society doesn't get rained out again. It seems like I've been planning for months to go and it hasn't happened yet. The shopping spree in Escondido was just a fluke. I had applied for the Farmer's Market a few months ago, but had to cancel because my mom got sick. One of the ladies that reviewed my application invited me to this event today and gave me a discount on the booth rental. This is awesome and I don't think this hardly ever happens. I had lost the paperwork for the elementary school and my friend just e-mailed it to me again. I think I can actually make it if i keep getting shows like this. Last weekend I went up to my friends house in LA. She took me to a community garage sale in an upper end neighborhood. It was so cool. One of the houses we went to was liquidating their inventory from their craft store. I found a lot of great deals. I pretty much spent all the money I earned from the bookmarks that I made for the women's study. I got some glass bottles, terra cotta pots, charms, and could have spent a fortune there if I had more cash with me. The good thing is now I have some new Mother's Day gifts that I can sell at all of these craft shows. I also took the lady's card, so I have a good contact for craft supplies. I put some bubble bath in some of the glass jars and decorated it with flowers. I ran out of bubble bath, so I filled the rest of the bottles with bath salts. I had left over bath salts, so I put them in some round toulle and made it into a little favor and added the thank you charms I picked up. I think they turned out pretty cute. I need to make a ton of Mother's Day cards and wedding cards and graduation cards. So I better let you go. Here are the pictures. Enjoy and I hope you have a super week. Good morning!!! I finally took pictures of the mother's day cards that I've been working on. It's hard to believe that there are only 2 more weeks left until Mother's Day.
For Mother's Day, my mom and I started a new tradition in our family. The day before Mother's Day all of my aunts and female cousins get together for a Mother-Daughter Tea Party. We've been doing this for 10 years now. It's been such a blessing. We had more pictures of my grandma at these tea parties and such fond memories of her because of this new tradition within our family. It has also ministered to my family because 2 years ago my grandma passed away. It was hard to let go, but there was much healing for everyone at the tea party held almost a year later. These tea parties were also helpful to me and my mom during the times that she had to go through chemo and now this year she had open heart surgery. It is so nice that we have family that we can lean on during times of great rejoicing and during the tough times. I better upload these pictures before I'm late to work. Have a great day and remeber to honor your mom this Mother's Day and if she's not around, take the time to rember all the good times that you spent together---that's how to keep her memory alive. We all still need our mothers no matter how old we are. |
