A few weeks ago, I bought the Paper Pups cartridge for my Cricut so that I could be part of a show for thee Humane Society. There is no way that I will be able to put enough things together for the show by the 5th of December, so I decided to cancel that show and start working on some projects that I could use if they have a show in the spring. So I started playing around with this cartridge and came up with some really cute Valentine's Day Cards. I know we aren't even done with Christmas yet, but I kinda got tired of making Christmas cards already and I need a break from it. I used the scallop cuts from Graphically speaking and the circles are from George Basic Shapes. I made all of the circles yesterday and I glued them to the cards this morning, so it made for a pretty quick and easy way to get a lot of cards done in a hurry. I can't believe I actually ended up making 14 cards total today---Wooo Whoo!!! I'll show you half the cards today and the other half later this week. Have an awesome week and have fun crafting away.
Hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving with all of your friends and family. It is such a blessing at this busy time of year to stop and reflect on all that we have to be grateful for. After spending time with family, and friends and going to all the after Thanksgiving sales, I decided to make a few cards.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I was off this week, so I had some time to catch up on some projects that I've been meaning to do. I finished up the bookmarkers that I made for a customer on Monday, then I put up all my Christmas decorations and borrowed my friend's kid to help decorate the Christmas tree, and yesterday I worked on this retirement book. A friend at work will be retiring next month and I wanted to make her something special. So I made her this retirement word book. My husband said it would make him feel old. I think he equates retirement with old age. I think of it more as an accomplishment to finally enter into a new stage of life and to celebrate all the good work you've done in your lifetime. At least that was what I was trying to go for when I made this. I used the Cricut Design Studio Software to make the word book and most of the images came off my new Child's year cartridge. I've been having a lot of fun playing with this new cartridge. It is becoming one of my favorites. I have to go to the store to buy some stuff for tommorrow's dinner, so without further ado, here are the pictures. Enjoy and have a blessed week of thankfulness.
Howdy! Tongiht we are having a murder mystery dinner at our house. It has a country western theme and I was in charge of the decorations. I had no country type decor whatsoever, but fortunately my new cricut cartridge came earlier this week. I won a Child's Year on Ebay and I'm so excited to be able to play with it.
The scene is taking place at the Deadwood Saloon, so I tried to transform my living room into the saloon. My husband made the saloon doors and attached them to our front door. I made the sign for the saloon and a wanted poster. I bought some cowboy hats and I think we are going to have a blast. It is going to be like Halloween all over again, because people are supposed to be dressing up in costume. I also had some left over bags from when I made that Turkey poop. So I'm going to make those into the favors. I'm excited. Enjoy the pictures, I have to go gt more stuff ready for tonight. Hi. I hope you are having an awesome week. I have a ton of meetings to prepare for, but I decided to take a break and update the blog.
Someone asked me to make some gifts for their students. I thought the perfect gifts for a student from a teacher would be a bookmarker. I used the bookmarkers on the Animal Kingdom cartridge to make these bookmarkers. I think I'm going to laminate them, and then take an exacto knife and cut through the lamination. That will allow the student to place the bookmarker on the pages without falling off. I gotta go finish writing up some reports. Enjoy your week. Hi...hope everything is going well for you. I stayed home from work today because I was throwing up in the morning...and no I'm not pregnant...at least I don't think I am.. I think I got enough rest so I can do that show tomorrow. Somehow between all the meetings and all the work around the house I managed to find some time to do some crafts this week.
For the show tommorrow, I came up with a funny and cute and kinda gross idea. I had picked up a bag of candy corn from Smart and Final a few weeks ago. I decided to make a gift bag that said turkey poop and I put the candy corn in the bag. I don't know how well the poop will sell, but it was enough to make me and my hubby laugh and sometimes that's all that matters. I also went to Home Depot for my other project. I needed a better way to display all the stuff I had made, so I went in search of that board with all the holes in it (pegboard to the salesman). I found the size I needed, bought 2 boards, a couple of hinges, and some pegs and wah la instant display board. Well not exactly. I tried to try to build it myself before my husband came home. I searched throughout all of his tools and found some rivets. I thought this would work well, so I looked another half an hour before I found the rivet gun (aren't you impressed I knew what I was looking for?) You would have been even more impressed if it would have actually worked, but alas I failed again. The holes in the peg board were too big for the rivet. So I had to wait for my hubby to come home. After dinner I sent him out to get the right hardware. Then he built the display board for me. I worked way better than I thought it would. It's portable, holds a ton of stuff, and looks great. Have a great weekend and I hope you can use these ideas. Thanks for looking...happy crafting to you!!! Next week I have another craft show to go to. In an attempt to get ready for it, I decided to make some Christmas crafts that I used to make a long time ago.
I went to the Dollar Tree and bought a few items and turned an ordinary wreath into an extraordinary wreath. I bought the wreaths, the floral picks, the poinsettas, ribbon and the santa claus ornaments from there. I used wire to attach the santa head unto the wreath and reinforced it with hot glue. Then I just started placing flowers and ribbon on the wreath until I like the way it looked. I hope you enjoy the pictures. Have a great week!!! On Thursday my sister-in-law asked if I could make some stuff for a Baby shower that she was hosting. She wated some favors and a sign with the baby's name on it (something that could be hung up in her room after the party). I told her I could try to make something and then I just started looking through my New Arrival cartridge for an idea.
Below are pictures that I came up with. I didn't know the person having the shower, and my SIL wasn't very specific as to what she wanted....just something pink and purple and butterflies. So I went with just a shower theme for the favors and butterflies for the sign. I made the favor 3-d by making one of the bags on the Tags, Boxes, and More cartridge. I just cut off the handles of the bag. Then I cut out the rubber duckies, the bathtub, and the little baby crawling away. I glue it altogether and presto, instant baby shower favor. My SIL loved the pictures, so she ordered 30 and I've been working on them yesterday and today. I finished cutting out all the pieces this morning before work. My plan was to put them together after work, but plans changed. A friend of mine asked me to watch her 6 year old son at the last minute. I brought all the pieces for this favor with me, and Trevor and I did arts and crafts. By his bedtime, we were done assembling all 30 favors. Trevor did an awesome job. I told him I'd give him a cut, but I don't think he knew what I was talking about. I think I'll have to borrow him more often :) Enjoy the pictures and I hope they inspire you to drum up your own creative juices this weekend. Have a good one!!! I went to a craft store the other day and they had these super cute mini scrapbooks that had a letter on each page and it spelled out a word when they are closed. I really liked the one that said sisters. I didn't buy it because I don't have a sister. I'm not sure if they're called Word Scrabooks or not---but that's what I'm calling them today.
I was on cricut.com earlier in the week and I found the instructions on how to make these books. So I decided to challenge myself and attempt to make one. I had a lot of fall type stuff lying around, so I decided my word would be AUTUMN. This happens to be my dog's name, so I might eventually put some of her pictures in there or maybe I can sell these little books. It wasn't that hard to make when you welded the letters together with the Cricut design studio software. It was kind of time consuming. I think with more practice I could get faster at making them. I binded my book together with eyelets and ribbon, because I don't have one of those Bind-It-All things yet....that's on my wish list too :) BTW I used my Cricut to cut out the base of each letter page so it wasn't so flimsy. You could probably use heavy weight cardstock, but this was easier for me. The day after I made this book, my sil wanted me to mak her a scrapbook for a baby shower. I thought it would make a cool brag book by personalizing this word book with the baby's name. So I sent her these pictures and I'm waiting to see what she wants to do. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Tell me what you think. Have a great week and happy crafting to you!!! I came home from work today and I just decided to sit down and actually do some crafts. I had some sticker packets lying around, so I just put together some really quick pages. These 8x8 pages are pretty simple to put together. It is basically a contrasting 2x8 strip of paper glued on the side of an 8x8 sheet of paper. A 4x4 square is glued in the middle, with a title above the photo mat. Three stickers are placed on the 2x8. That's all there is to it. These 8x8 scrapbook pages can be used by themselves, or they can be mounted on a 12x12 page with more 4x4 photo mats surrounding it. It's a quick, easy, and simple way to make a pre-made scrapbook page. I think it took me less than an hour to complete all these pages...I wasn't paying attention to the time. Hope you have a great week and happy scrapping to you!!!
I have been trying to organize my scrapbook room, but it has been unsuccessful. It seems like everytime I start trying to organize, I'm like a squirrel...I see something shiny and I get distracted and start working on another project and I never end up cleaning the scrapbook room completely. My husband thinks I have ADHD, and he's probably right...but don't tell him I admitted to that.
In my attempts to organize all my stuff, I ran across some Christmas card sets that I made. I realized that I never posted these pictures on the blog, so I decided to put them up for you. I bought the Christmas tags they had at Costco and then I just made these cards pretty quickly one day. There's a set of 5 cards and I've been selling them for $5.00 at the craft shows. They're all different. Whatever Christmas cards I don't sell this year will end up being the cards that I send out to family and friends. I'd rather use the cards than try to store them for an entire year. I already have too much junk around my house as it is. This is a quick way to get cute handmade looking cards at a reasonable price. You can take this idea and run with it, or you can purchase the ones I've already made in my online store. I think I have 3 sets left. Have a great week, and take some time out of your day to do something nice for yourself for a change. Enjoy the pictures. |
